International Symposium: Sudan in Transition and Turkiye-Sudan Relations

After years of conflict in Sudan, the emergence of South Sudan as an independent state greatly affected the country’s political, economic, and social life. Internal conflicts, financial difficulties, and political representation problems have impacted Sudan’s national and international relations. With the end of Omar Al-Bashir’s administration, Sudan entered a transition period. In this period, the emerging political structure has faced many economic, social, global, and regional problems. On the other hand, the interaction between Turkiye and Sudan in different periods of history creates opportunities for the development of multidimensional relations, alongside a number of difficulties. Considering Sudan’s transition period, necessity to analyze the future of Turkiye-Sudan bilateral relations by paying attention to this background has arisen.

The symposium aims to bring together experts and scholars to discuss Sudan’s transition process and its effects on Turkiye-Sudan relations. As Africa Foundation, we are grateful to the Middle East Foundation, Istanbul Commerce University, and Turkiye-Sudan Friendship Association (TSDD) for their invaluable contributions to the organization of this unique event.
