The President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan is visiting officially Togo on the 20th October 2021. This trip will be the first visit of a Turkish President in this small country located in West Africa. Among the 54 African States, Togo is the last one to be visited. Since 1998 when Turkey adopted a new plan called « Opening to Africa », its relation with African countries has been intensified. Many embassies were opened and commercial activities were consolidated during the last 15 years. This visit of the Turkish President will increase and strengthen the cooperation between Turkey and African States, especially with Togo.
