Küresel Zorluklarla Yüzleşmek: Türkiye ve Güney Afrika Perspektifleri

21. yüzyılda, küresel ve bölgesel güç dengesindeki değişim yükselen güçler için yeni zorluklar ve fırsatlar ortaya çıkarmıştır. Bu tür bölgesel, küresel zorluklar ve fırsatlar karşısında, Türkiye ve Güney Afrika gibi yükselen güçlerin bölgesel ve küresel siyasette öncü roller üstlenmeleri olasılığı kuvvetle muhtemeldir. Bu bağlamda, Türk ve Güney Afrikalı siyasetçiler, bürokratlar, akademisyenler ve sivil toplum uzmanları mevcut sorunları ve iş birliği fırsatlarını değerlendirmek için 1 Ağustos 2019’da bir araya gelmişlerdir. Türkiye, Güney Afrika Cumhuriyeti ile 19. yüzyıla uzanan güçlü tarihsel ve 1994’te Pretoria’da açılan ilk büyükelçilikten bu yana da siyasi ve diplomatik ilişkilere sahiptir.

Toplantıda Güney Afrika temsilcileri öncelikle, bölgesel ve küresel sorunlar karşısında her iki tarafta da kalkınma isteği ve potansiyelinin bulunduğunun altını çizdiler. Bu rapor, 1 Ağustos 2019 tarihinde Afrika Vakfı’nın düzenlediği yuvarlak masa toplantısında Türk ve Güney Afrikalı katılımcıların öne sürdükleri görüşlere dayanmaktadır. Toplantı, değişen bölgesel ve küresel düzenin ardından Güney Afrika ve Türkiye’nin karşılaştığı zorlukları ve fırsatları ortaya çıkarmıştır. Toplantı boyunca katılımcılar mevcut zorlukları belirleyip potansiyel iş birliği alanlarını tespit ederek gelecekteki ilişkiler için bir çerçeve oluşturmuşlardır.

Facing Global Challenges: Perspectives of Turkey and South Africa

In the last century, the change in the global and regional balance of power has created new challenges and opportunities for the rising powers. In the face of such regional and global challenges and opportunities, emerging powers like Turkey and South Africa are likely to take leading roles in regional and global politics. On August 1, 2019, Turkish and South African politicians, bureaucrats, academics, and civil society experts came together to dec the current problems and opportunities for cooperation. Turkey has a strong historical relationship with the Republic of South Africa that dates back to the 19th century and political and diplomatic relations that dates back to 1994 when the first Turkish Embassy was opened in Pretoria.

At the meeting, the representatives of South Africa, first of all, stressed that there is a desire and potential for development on both sides in the face of regional and global problems. This report is based on the opinions put forwards by Turkish and South African participants at a roundtable organized by the African Foundation on August 1, 2019. The meeting revealed the challenges and opportunities faced by South Africa and Turkey in the wake of the changing regional and global order. During the meeting, the participants identified the current difficulties and identified potential areas of cooperation creating a framework for future relations.
